Why We Don't Do Estimates
A written estimate is a guess. It's based only on the damage you can see from the outside.
Most of the time there’s hidden damage. “It’s just my bumper” is usually not the case. That’s why estimates almost always change, and why chasing them wastes your time. Your insurance company writes its own appraisal anyway.
Book a Free ConsultationIndependent, and Proud of It
Some shops make the business choice to partner with insurance companies. That gets them on the insurer's preferred list, and staying on those lists can mean prioritizing things like cycle time or parts usage. We've made the choice to stay independent. We're not in contract with any insurance carrier and we're not on anyone's list. That means we answer to you, not your insurer, and we repair your car the right way.
Your Right to Choose Your Shop
In Pennsylvania, you have the right to choose the shop that repairs your car. Your insurance company can recommend shops, but it can't require you to use one.
Some "preferred" shops have an agreement with your insurance company. You can use them if you like, but you don't have to.
Already been to another shop? Something still wrong? We're here to help.
Get a Second OpinionRight to Appraisal
Many auto insurance policies include an appraisal clause, which gives you a way to settle a disagreement with your own insurance company over how much your damage is worth or what your car is valued at if it's a total loss. If you and your insurer can't agree on the amount, either side can usually demand an appraisal in writing. Each side then hires its own independent appraiser. If the two appraisers can't agree, they choose a neutral umpire, and an agreement between any two of the three generally settles the amount. You typically pay for your own appraiser and split the umpire's cost with the insurer, and our team is happy to help explain the process and provide repair documentation for your appraiser.
Appraisal rights come from your insurance policy, not Pennsylvania law, and terms vary by policy. Appraisal usually applies only to claims under your own policy's collision or comprehensive coverage, not claims against another driver's insurer, and it decides the amount of the loss, not whether the loss is covered. Check your policy for the exact terms. This information is not legal advice.
OEM vs. Aftermarket Parts
OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts are made by or for your vehicle's manufacturer. Aftermarket parts, sometimes called non-OEM parts, are made by other companies to fit your vehicle. Pennsylvania regulations require an insurance company's appraisal to identify any aftermarket crash parts it is based on and to tell you so in writing. If an aftermarket part would void the warranty on your vehicle, it must carry a warranty at least as good as the remaining original one. You can always ask for OEM parts, and it's worth checking your policy, because many policies only pay for aftermarket or used parts and you may owe the difference. We'll review your estimate with you and advocate for OEM parts when the vehicle maker's repair procedures or the fit, safety, or quality of the part call for them.
Coverage for OEM parts depends on your insurance policy. This information is general and is not legal advice.
